Pacific Islanders in Publishing
Our Mission
To amplify and support publishing creators and professionals descending from the regions of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia.
Our Definition of Pacific Islander
We feature creators and professionals of Pacific Islander descent. This includes people whose ancestry comes from the regions of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. The term “Pacific Islanders” broadly refers to people who identify as Pacific Islanders, Pasifika, Oceanian, or people of Oceania/Te Moana Nui, with Indigenous ties to the Pacific, and who either live in the islands or the diaspora. The regional terms we use on this website are for ease of organization and are not necessarily the terms everyone uses.
Our Eligibility Criteria
We feature authors who are traditionally published or who self-published one or several books, as well as illustrators and publishers or industry professionals of Pacific Islander descent, who have a commitment to empowering Pacific Islanders’ voices.
